Salvador Airport uses face recognition for passenger boarding with a solution developed by Serpro that develops blockchain solutions for the Federal Government
Salvador airport says ‚goodbye‘ to paper documents and forehead boarding by facial recognitionNOTES
Salvador Airport is saying ‚goodbye‘ to physical documents such as ID and driving licence at the time of boarding and is testing a solution based on facial recognition.
This way the pilot project called Embarque + Seguro, is being tested initially with voluntary passengers of the airline GOL and was developed in partnership with Serpro, a public company that promotes several blockchain solutions for the Federal Government.
„At check-in at the airport, the biometric validation of the passenger is done, comparing the data and photo taken on the spot, with the base of the government and the link to the boarding pass. To enter the aircraft, boarding occurs through facial identification Crypto Cash by biometrics, without the need to present any document,“ said the Ministry of Infrastructure.
For the Superintendent of Relationship with Final Clients of Serpro, Brenno Sampaio, Embarque Seguro is another disruptive project of digital transformation of the country.
„The technological solution dispenses with the presentation of traveler identification documents in the boarding process and provides substantial gains to the ecosystem on issues related to security, airport intelligence, operational efficiency and logistics. The existing integration between this solution and the Brazilian Anticipated Passenger Information System (Sisbraip) will provide oversight bodies such as the Federal Police, Anvisa and Vigiagro with risk analysis of travelers with rules adhering to their needs,“ he said.
The database used to validate people’s information aggregates the database of the Supreme Electoral Court (TSE), as well as the CNHs (National Driver’s License) of the National Traffic Department (Denatran).
„In practice, this means that not only drivers, but also all voters who have registered biometrically with the TSE, will be able to take advantage of the facilities of biometric validation for travel. In all, there are 67 million CNHs and 120 million registered voters,“ says the ministry’s note.
To perform these initial tests, Serpro has developed an application that allows the registration of the passenger photo, which is linked to your CPF and soon other government databases will be used to expand the universe of data, including blockchain databases can be accessed.
„We redesigned the whole journey of boarding and identification of the passenger, implementing the most current international standards, through the use of Serpro technology of facial recognition, integrated, in real time, with the unified system of verification and validation of government. In the near future, we intend to offer an intelligent app that personalizes the traveler’s experience, delivering conveniences, such as warning about your flight information, and also guiding you to your boarding gate in an uncomplicated way“, reveals Rafael Soto, Serpro’s Government Digitalization Superintendent.
Facial recognition technology for passenger identification and automatic boarding was already offered in the market.
„What did not exist, until now, was a unified national system that made it possible to quickly and safely check and validate the passenger’s identity from the crossing with different government databases,“ adds the ministry.
