Because of a question I had from Krista Francis at HRAlive and because of some articles that have caught my attention on blog writing, here is why you should stop writing your blog:
1) You think you should have more subscribers, more comments, and/or more sharing.
2) You're sleepy.
3) You're grumpy.
4) You don't think anyone cares what you have to say.
5) Acquaintances, friends and family scoff when you tell them you write a blog or make a big fuss about how much time you spend on it.
6) You think you're a crappy writer.
7) Maybe you are a crappy writer.
8) You read too many (one) articles by "blog experts" or "social media experts" stating what it means to have a successful blog.
9) You don't make it on to any lists.
10) You forgot why you started it in the first place.
11) You're not rich and famous yet.
12) No one has given you a better job because of your blog.
13) Nothing you have written has had any impact on anyone's life.
14) You're drunk or high.
15) Your blog is about the band Nickelback, chewing tobacco or asphalt.
Why you should NOT stop:
1) Writing is a form of artistic expression.
2) The world is unfair and needs corrected.
3) You have something else better to do?
4) It feels good when you get the words just right.
5) It's free.
6) You can do it when you're drunk or high.
7) You can say, "I'm a writer." (Why not?)
8) Cats like it when you write about them.
9) Dogs don't have any idea what you're doing...so you can vent about them.
10) It's your blog...and you can do whatever you want with it.

Yes, you missed a really important one on the "why you should not stop" list.
It can be a gateway to meeting really amazing, smart people who can make your career more rewarding, more fulfilling, and more interesting.
BTW, your stop list killed me. I think I qualify for almost all of them except Nickleback.
More reasons to quit:
-The thrill is gone.
-I’ve said all I wanted to.
-The more I learn, the less I realize I know.
-I can’t write about what I really want to write about, such as all the juicy goings-on at work! The affairs, backstabbing, intrigue!
-Been there, done that, moving on.
-I just can’t keep up with responding to all those comments!
Reasons to stay:
So I haven’t been offered a new job because of my blog, but it didn’t hurt Ben Eubanks!
It’s become part of my self-identity.
My husband thinks it's sexy.
If I quit blogging, I have no excuse to avoid the Honey Do list.
My son already told his friends I'm a famous blogger.
Just so I'm clear, writing you blog when your drunk or high is a good reason to quit but also a good reason to not quit? :-)
i hear my jewish great-aunt in reason to stop #3. right after, "good. your 2nd husband doesn't have a ponytail. not like the first."

You SHOULD stop writing it when it keeps you up at night and you SHOULDN'T stop writing it when it helps you sleep.
If you enjoy writing, you still have things to say (that you find interesting - remember even if others don't feel like it's interesting, there will be someone out there who does!) and you want an outlet - keep blogging!
The blogging world has evolved over the last few years to become something never quite seen before. Blogging is a great way to spread your message, get new connections and outlay your passions. Do with it what you will - whether you want to advocate a cause, champion a message or simply waffle with your musings, keep writing your blog! As long as it gives you pleasure, who cares what anyone else thinks? There's a huge blank canvas in the web, so get typing!!
Paul, you inspired me to restart my blog. I let it expire a few months ago, not having much time to blog.
So I'll add a reason why you should NOT stop:
If you don't keep your blog, you'll have to start over when you finally figure out that blogging was a good idea.
Thanks to all for the inspiration!
