Meetings About Rainbows

This is what is wrong with performance reviews.

MALCOLM (Bruce Willis)(trying to read Cole's mind) "You don't like to say much at school.  You're an excellent student however. You've never been in any kind of serious trouble."
(Because Malcolm is wrong, Cole takes a slow step back.)
COLE (Haley Joel Osment) "We were supposed to draw a picture. Anything we wanted...  I drew a man. He got hurt in the neck by another man with a screwdriver."
(An uncomfortable silence overtakes the den.)
MALCOLM "You saw that on T.V., Cole?"
(Because Malcolm is wrong again, Cole takes another step back.)
COLE "Everybody got upset.  They had a meeting.  Momma started crying.....I don't draw like that anymore."
MALCOLM "How do you draw now?"
COLE "I draw people with smiles, dogs running, and rainbows... They don't have meetings about rainbows.
MALCOLM "I guess they don't."*

If you're not having meetings about rainbows, you're doing performance evaluations all wrong.

Cue Kermit ...
"Why, are there so man-y, meetings, about rainbows?"

Seriously though. I'm going to spend the rest of the month figuring out how to use the line, "they don't have meetings about rainbows" for real.
